Roped Climbing

Roped Climbing Action
Level 1 – New Climber

Focus: Complete beginners in roped climbing.

  • Climb safely under supervision.
  • Gain familiarity in vertical movement and body positioning.
  • Experience top rope climbing through friendly fun games.
  • Support climbers to face initial fears of height and movement, and celebrate small victories with positive reinforcement.
Level 2 – Foundation Climber

Focus: Harness safety and basic Knot tying.

  • Learn to put on a harness correctly and tie a simple figure-of-eight knot.
  • Introduction to basic climbing terminology, basic climbing techniques and grading systems.
  • Reinforce skills through climbing games and challenges.
  • Build confidence and resilience through safe practice.
Level 3 – Development Climber

Focus: Movement precision and belaying skills.

  • Improve footwork & Body Positioning.
  • 5 step belaying and Pre-climb buddy checks.
  • Clear communication between climber and belayer, compete in ISCF.
  • Building trust and responsibility through teamwork.
Level 4 – Intermediate Climber

Focus: Technique refinement and endurance building.

  • Master intermediate moves and more challenging holds.
  • Introduction to climbing-specific warm-ups and basic endurance laps to build stamina by increasing time on the wall.
  • Attempt higher-grade top-rope routes with efficiency and poise, learn to shake off and rest position.
  • Practice patience, efficiency, discipline and mindfulness.
Level 5 – Advanced Climber

Focus: Introduce Lead climbing and risk management.

  • Practice route reading, incorporate strength training and competition awareness.
  • Introduce lead climbing (13+), long tail lead (under 13).
  • Rope handling and risk management skills.
  • Raise risk awareness and instil discipline, responsibility and accountability.
Level 6 – Performance Climber

Focus: Performance training and national competitive standards.

  • Mastering advanced techniques and competing at ISCL.
  • Mental skill training, tactical preparation as well as rest and recovery strategies.
  • Pathway to multi-pitch and national league.
  • Cultivate perseverance under pressure, self realization and a pursuit of excellence.

Bouldering

Bouldering Action
Level 1 – New Boulderer

Focus: Introduction to beginner bouldering.

  • Learn safe use of the bouldering wall.
  • Practice traversal and balance on the wall.
  • Explore short and low bouldering routes.
  • Promote enjoyment, curiosity, and confidence through fun games.
Level 2 – Foundation Boulderer

Focus: Basic bouldering terminology and technique.

  • Learn basic bouldering terminology, basic bouldering techniques and grading systems.
  • Learn safe falling techniques and safe behaviour on the wall.
  • Build foundational bouldering skills and route recognition.
  • Encourage responsibility, awareness, and confidence through safe practice.
Level 3 – Development Boulderer

Focus: More challenging routes and deeper understanding of bouldering techniques.

  • Learn spotting techniques and bouldering equipment.
  • Knowledge of hold shapes and directional pulling.
  • Refine footwork, body positioning and greater bouldering efficiency.
  • Build problem solving skills, responsibility and adaptability through challenge and progression.
Level 4 – Intermediate Boulderer

Focus: Transitioning to intermediate movement and competition basics.

  • Practice dynamic movements and momentum on the wall.
  • Introduce route reading skills, recognise crus and apply beta effectively through visualization and observation.
  • Learn to design practice routes using existing holds to target specific skills and work on weaknesses.
  • Build tactical awareness, discipline, and resilience through effort and structured challenges.
Level 5 – Advanced Boulderer

Focus: Competition awareness and risk management.

  • SMART goal setting and the importance of a climbing logbook, understand bouldering competition rules and scoring system.
  • Incorporate endurance, conditioning and light weight training.
  • Skilled at dynamic movements and advanced bouldering technique.
  • Encourage teamwork and integrity through mock competitions and collaborative problem-solving.
Level 6 – Performance Boulderer

Focus: Performance training and national competitive standards.

  • Mastering advanced techniques and execute dynamic power movements.
  • Competing at Pro-League and national level.
  • Mental skill training, tactical preparation as well as rest and recovery strategies.
  • Cultivate perseverance under pressure, self-realization and a pursuit of excellence.
